We landed. The Cathedral and Wailing Wall, located in the Welcome Springs area, captured our attention for the rest of the trip. The Wailing Wall is on the upper left cliff band shown in the above picture. It's actually hidden within the shadow furthest left. You might also note that the cliff band in the middle of the shot, closest to the camera, is completely distinct from the Wailing Wall cliff, separated by a valley/wash - the color of the topography match so well that it was even hard to separate them while viewing it in person - a sort of illusion hiding the scale of the rock. To have a local crag like this is the stuff of dreams.
A few more people have begun to trickle out here now - must be the start of the season (although the weather has been generally awesome for about 2 weeks now). I'm hoping to get up on a rope and shoot some this week, but we'll see - not so sure about asking random people to take photos of them - more to the point, there's so much climbing to be done first...before I'm back at the office daydreaming again.
It's also good to report that Shannon is back in the rope-gun status. She's sending, and sometimes her beta is even good ;) She gets the Achievement Award for week 2.
